An age calculator finds the time between a date of birth and today. Unlike a simple year subtraction, it checks whether the birthday has occurred and accounts for the different lengths of months.
Why subtracting years can be wrong
Subtracting birth year from the current year can overstate age when this year’s birthday has not happened yet. Exact age needs the month and day too.
Leap years and February 29
Leap days are included in total-day counts. For someone born on February 29, the birthday countdown uses February 28 in a non-leap year.
